Seeing as most teenagers were skint back then, stuff like Aria and Westone were a god-send. There was a lot of snobbery back then in the bass world - if it wasn't a Fender or Musicman you tended to get looked down on, especially as Westones were available in the Freemans catalogue (no jokes about the lingerie section please. I had an 79 Washburn Falcon and a 83 Westone prestige 250 all where absolutely fantastic guitars period, factor in what you could buy them for in the mid 90s and they where an absolute bargain. The QC and build on them was amazing when you compare it with stuff nowadays. The guitars that Ive owned that where Matusomku built rival anything you can buy today build and material quality wise.

Loads of people in the 80s used Westones - they were the cheaper version of the Aria Pro range and were great basses. But it would appear they are generally well regarded. Free from blemishes, scratches, and user wear. This product is in 'like new' condition and shows little to no signs of use. Does anybody have any intel on these instruments? I'm not into vintage guitars, but if I could sell the Westone and tune it into a Black Jet or a PRS SE 24-08.well that has my attention.įrom the Blue Book. It's been following me around ever since. I did learn on this but I remember it wouldn't stay in tune very well, and I moved on to a strat, joined a cover band and never looked back to the Westone. The one I possess is in much better condition and I have the original case and receipt. (I understand it is just listed for that and hasn't sold) My search on eBay didn't turn anything up. One sentence caught my eye " Upon the end of production, many Westone guitars and basses have become collectors items." So then I went to and found one listed for sale for $650. I know nothing about Westone guitars and went to wikipedia in search for details. This was my first guitar that I bought with my hard earned busboy money back in the fall of 1985.
I decided to thin the herd and sell my 1985 Westone Spectrum FX.
